  • Pain-Free Deep Tissue Massage
A common misconception of “Deep Tissue” massage is that it is painful!! A massage should not have to be painful in order to get deeply into the tissue. With proper training and intent, a therapist should be able to access the deeper tissues in the human body without too much force. We are after all not that large and thick of structures and we have delicate, yet strong, intricate structures within. These techniques incorporate client positioning and specific contractions to achieve release within muscle bellies and groups, followed with the more nurturing strokes of Swedish massage. From the corporate athlete to the ultra-marathoner these techniques will provide pain-free relief.
  • Active Isolated Stretching
For over 30 years this type of stretching has been in development. Aaron Mattes has been kind enough to allow me to share with you the secrets of successful muscle lengthening and strengthening techniques. The results have proven to be some of the most influential in injury prevention and rehabilitation in sports arenas and workplaces/industry sites. These techniques and workshops are available on a one to one basis or for groups. (Please see instruction page)
  • Muscle Energy Techniques
Muscle Energy Techniques or MET are techniques in which the client contracts a specific muscle after having been placed into a specific body position or stretch. The result is a release of the muscle belly that may be causing limited range of motion or pain. This approach helps the client become aware of areas of the body that may be involved in pain and restriction of movement.
  • Soft Tissue Manipulation for the Breathing Apparatus
Soft Tissue work with-in the musculature of the external breathing apparatus is key in freedom of movement of the associated bones and joints. The lungs expand when the ribs move outward and up. If there are adhesions and hyper-contracted tissues within these areas they will cause restrictions in movement. We can break the cycles of spasm, and reduce adhesions with very specific work; some of it is even relaxing. Muscles focused on include the diaphragm, the abdominals (3), and the upper fixators of the cervical spine, and the intercostals to name a few. MET and homework are used to ensure results.
  • Long Haul Leg Package
The above mentioned techniques put together specificly for the musculature and joints within the legs. Great work for thoes running or hiking the canyon, long mileage cyclists, and short order cooks or servers. The list is really endless.
  • Upper Body Tune Up
Again, specific work designed to release or strengthen the upper body. Areas of focus are commonly the rotator cuff, the pectoral muscles, the neck/shoulder complex, the bicep/tricep and forearms. Great for computer athletes and unicyclists, and everyone in between!
